Scenic View Road

        After negotiations fell through late last year on public use of Scenic View Road, Prairie County officials agreed the county’s next step would be to take the matter to court, seeking a judge’s ruling on who owns the seven-mile dirt road that leads to a popular Bureau of Land Management scenic overlook north of Terry.

        Closing that road just isn’t a good idea – it’s not good for the community and it’s not going to benefit local businesses. There’s got to be another way – other than completely shutting out public access - isn’t there?

        Leadership from the Montana Stockgrowers Association met with Prairie County commissioners last week in a nearly two-hour meeting to discuss the Scenic View Road access issue.

        A Terry Tribune Web site poll is attracting a lot of votes, but they aren’t all from Prairie County. 

  State and Prairie County officials toured the Scenic View Road near the Terry Badlands last week, in an attempt to resolve an access issue that has been brewing for more than a year.

         Montana Assistant Attorney General Stuart Segrest is planning to meet with Prairie County officials next week as the state attorney general’s office continues efforts to gather information regarding Scenic View Road.
