Grazing district elects officers

        Members of the Prairie County Grazing District met last month at the USDA building for their annual meeting.
        Agenda items included discussion on land owned by the district which TransCanada’s Keystone Pipeline is scheduled to cross.

Negotiations in the works on access to Scenic View Road

The Prairie County Board of Commission plans to meet with landowner Michael Karrels later this month in an effort to resolve the Scenic View Road access issue. That decision came after commissioners met with Prairie County Attorney Becky Convery during Tuesday’s regular meeting. Also participating in the conversation was Dell, Mont. lawyer, Wally Congdon who has been hired by the county to assist with the road access issue.

Rains delay harvest of welcome crop

Area producers began hauling truckloads of sugar beets to Sidney Sugar’s Powder River Receiving Station last week. Three days into the harvest, which began on Friday, all-day rain showers created muddy conditions, delaying the harvest.

Buffalo Rapids board contests union’s bargaining unit

Members of Buffalo Rapids Board of Control voted 5-2 countering a recent petition filed by Operating Engineers Union expressing intent to unionize BR employees. 
The vote, pitting two of district 2’s board members against the remaining board, was made at the conclusion of a nearly three-hour-long special meeting.
