Stephen Walter Dixson, 85

  Stephen Walter Dixson was born May 20, 1926, in Decatur, Ill., to George Eli and Donalda (Nichols) Dixson. He died July 26, 2011, at the Mountainview Medical Center in White Sulphur Springs.

Steve was raised in Terry with his seven brothers and sisters. He joined the Navy during WWII and served his country for 26 years, finally retiring as a Chief Petty Officer in 1973. He was awarded many medals and decorations for his service.
In 1975, Steve moved to White Sulphur Springs. He owned and operated the Melody Lane Bar for several years. He enjoyed golf, gardening and the National Finals Rodeo, which he attended for more than 20 years in Oklahoma City and Las Vegas. He especially enjoyed the many friends he made throughout his lifetime.
Steve is survived by his sons, Norman Dixson and Doug Dixson, both of Pasco, Wash., daughters, Lojray (Luis) Alvarez of Seligman, Ariz., Dawnette (Casey) Ingersoll of Deming, Wash., and Donalda (Bryan) Mikesell of White Sulphur Springs, and a stepson, Douglas (Trang) Dixson of Vietnam. Also surviving him are his brothers, Donald (Carol) Dixon, Nick (Sheila) Dixson of Stanford, and Loren Dixon of Charleston, Ore., sisters, Jean (Paul) Still of Shady Cove, Ore., and Margaret (Mike) Cunningham of New London, Texas, and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents, brother Dale Dixson and sister Vera Cole.
Cremation has taken place and, at his request, there will be no services. Memorials are suggested to the Mountainview Medical Center or Meagher County Senior Center in White Sulphur Springs, the Humane Society or the charity of the donor's choice.
