Volleyball season will see team’s new dynamic

By Kay Braddock

The start of a new season for the Terry High School volleyball program is underway. With a new coaching staff and the loss of several key players from last year’s senior class, the team faces new dynamics, said head coach Tammi Prete.

“All of the teams that I know of have only lost one or two players,” Prete said. Terry lost five.
But what the team may be lacking in experience, they’re making up for in camaraderie.
“It’s a good group of girls who are open and willing to work with each other, with the main goal of bettering each other,” Prete said.
The varsity team includes: Senior players Courtney Ban, Amy Browning, Chantelle Follet, Ashley Morast; juniors Anna Fredrickson, Lindsay Stickel; sophomores Alyssa Morast, Catlin Morrison, Mikayla Ridenhower, Lexie Schlosser. The junior varsity team includes: Layna Grue, Kylie Helmuth, Haile Keltner, Dakotah Luedtke Tyra Fuhrman, Ashley Wells, Exelee Lacquement, Mikayla Ridenhower and Chantell Follet.
Assisting with coaching this season is Mike Ehinger.
The team competed in their first tournament Saturday, August 27 in Hysham. Terry took second in the 6-team tournament, losing in the final game to Ekalaka.
“It was a good tourney to get our feet wet,” Prete said.
Terry will play the Circle Wildcats on Saturday, Sept. 3 at home. The JV matchup will begin at 5:30 with the varsity game set to start at 7 p.m. The evening’s action begins at 4 p.m. with a junior high game.
Stat results from both games will be available in an upcoming issue.
