Fredrick Gaub, 94

  Fredrick Gaub, age 94, of Glendive, passed away on Thursday, February 26, 2009, at the Glendive Medical Center. 

Fred was born on November 24, 1914, in Marsh, Montana, the son of Johann and Fredricka (Opp) Gaub. Fred attended rural Dawson County Valley and Amo Schools. 
Fred was united in marriage to Clara Anna Gackle on September 14, 1941 at her parent’s home near Watkins, Montana. Fred entered the United States Army in May 1942 and was honorably discharged from military service in October 1945. Following Military service he returned to Montana to farm with his wife 20 miles southwest of Glendive, in the Crackerbox area on Crackerbox Creek.
A life long resident of rural Dawson and Prairie Counties, Fred and Clara had originally attended the First Mennonite Church prior to joining the Evangelical Church of North America, where Fred served in various capacities throughout the years. Fred was preceded in death by his wife Clara, on August 30, 1957. Fred was then married to Alvina Lentzner in Wolf Point, Montana on April 6, 1958. Alvina passed away on April 8, 1969. Fred retired from farming and ranching in 1979. He had been a resident of the Eastern Montana Veterans Home since November 2008. 
Fred was also preceded in death by his parent; two brothers, Johann and Christ; four sisters, Freda Stepper, Eva (Hohensee) Cullen, Christina Horst and Katie Volpp.
Survivors include his daughter, Luella Mae Raymond and her husband Ron of Great Falls, Montana; son, Melvin Lee Gaub of Glendive, Montana; one sister, Rose Kuehn of Cheyenne, Wyoming; two grandchildren, Tammy Lu (Raymond) Robertson and her husband Greg and their two children Lauren and Tyler of Southaven, Mississippi and Matthew R. Raymond and his wife Kelly and their two children Hayden and Miala of Great Falls, Montana
