The Prairie County Spelling Bee was  held Tuesday, March 3 in the Terry High School study hall. Lindsay Stickle earned the top spot with Kylie Helmuth finishing as runner-up.
Thirty-five contestants in grades 5-8 gathered for an initial practice round followed by a challenging first round in which well over half of the competition was eliminated in one fell swoop.

After six rounds of competition, Stickle, an eighth grader, was declared the winner, after correctly spelling the word contiguous.
