Sheriff’s office assists narcotics unit with capture

About 15 minutes before agents from the narcotics unit of the Montana Division of Criminal Investigation arrived in Terry, the Prairie County Sheriff’s office was notified they were coming.

Prairie County Sheriff Bill Klunder and Deputy Sheriff Jason Smith assisted the six agents as they “took into custody” two individuals last week.
The “entry raid” occurred mid-afternoon on Wednesday, March 24 at the 4-Corners gas station in Terry.
As customers and a gathered coffee crowd looked on, agents transported a man and a woman to the Prairie County Courthouse for questioning.
The two were not from the area. Further details on the pair were not released, due to the on-going nature of the drug related capture, according to Klunder.
Although the event was a surprise action to most, the sheriff’s office had been notified earlier in the day that a DCI narcotics unit was working in the area.
