A felony assault with a weapon case scheduled to enter District Court last week was diverted after 51-year-old Stanley Box entered into a plea agreement with Prairie County.
Box pled guilty to a felony count of carrying a concealed weapon and a misdemeanor count of assault. The plea agreement recommends a 5 year sentence with all time suspended except 13 months for the felony charge, and 6 months for the misdemeanor count, to run concurrent with the felony count. Box, who has been in custody since August, will receive time served, meaning he will likely be released by Sept.
The charges stem from an Aug. 15 incident that occurred at the Lazy JD Bar in Fallon, where Box attacked Fallon resident J.C. Corneliusen with a bayonet, according to court documents. Corneliusen, who was stabbed near the collar bone, was treated and released for the wound that same evening.
