Karen Wendland, 69, was sent home to her Lord and Savior on February 3, 2014. She passed away with her family by her side at Riverstone Hospice Home. She was the fourth daughter of Lee and Leone Hubing and was born on February 12, 1944.  She was raised in Terry and graduated from Terry High School in 1962.

Karen moved to Helena for a job at the state capital where she met Ken Wendland. They were married July 5th, 1963 and they have two daughters, Sherri and Sandi. They lived in Helena and Van Nuys, Calif., for a short time before moving back to Billings to raise their family.
Karen worked various clerical positions throughout her life including the aviation business with her husband.
Karen loved her home on the Boulder River and moved there full time when Ken retired in 2009. She was very passionate about cooking and loved to entertain family and friends with her wonderful meals. She enjoyed home decorating, gardening, and canning. Family favorites were her raspberry jam and chokecherry syrup.
She was preceded by her parents Lee and Leone Hubing, and her sister Lynda Aldrich.
Karen will be greatly missed by her survivors, her loving husband Ken Wendland; daughters Sherri Wendland and Sandi (Jim) Hurd; four grandchildren, Zach and Lindsey Hurd, and Jared and Ryan Kimmet; two sisters, Benita Nelson and Nonnie Lund; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to give a special thanks to all the hospice staff that took such good care of Karen.
The memorial service will be held on February 12 at the Kathy Lillis Chapel on St. John’s campus at 2429 Mission Way in Billings at 11:00 am.  A luncheon will follow the service.
