Candyce Payne has been named the new Administrator for Prairie Community Hospital.
Glendive Medical Center provides management services at PCH, including employment of their administrator and medical providers.
"Candyce is the right fit for our hospital. We are looking forward to working with her," Gary Pfiefle, PCH Board Chair said.
Payne graduated with a Master of Healthcare Administration from the University of Missouri in 2010. She gained a love for the field of healthcare when she began working as a Certified Nurse's Assistant (CNA) while she was obtaining her Bachelor of Business Administration at the University of South Dakota.
"The place I worked for made many changes to make the nursing home environment more like their home which had a positive impact on employees and residents. Once I saw how great the nursing home environment could be I knew this is what I wanted to do with my life," she added.
Payne has had much experience in healthcare, from an internship in the Netherlands where she had to help implement changes in a long term care facility to focus on "resident choice and person-centered care" to working as an administrator for Tiger Place in Missouri for two years before moving to Glendive to work as the Vice President of Aging Services for GMC.
For Payne and her husband, Matt, deciding to move to eastern Montana was easy, as they both grew up in small towns. "When my husband and I moved to this area we looked at countless homes for sale. We decided to move to Terry because it is a safe, friendly community with an excellent school system, lots of great little stores, and plenty of things to do outside in the summertime. I am excited to take on this new role at the hospital," Payne said.
Payne will assume her new responsibilities at PCH on February 3, 2014. She replaces Parker Powell, who became the CEO of GMC in October 2013.
