14th annual coyote contest draws 14 teams

From December 6 through December 8, the Prairie County Sportsman Club held their 14th annual coyote calling contest.

Due to the extreme cold, there were only 14 teams signed up, with 35 individuals. Previous years have drawn in more teams.
Thirty coyotes, one fox and seven porcupines were brought in at check-in.
The winning team of John Rieger of Plevna had 10 coyotes. The second place team was Bill Klunder (tie-breaker 3 dogs), large dog at 35.3 pounds and the third place team was Martin Brady of Lame Deer, (tie-breaker 3 dogs), large dog at 31.2 pounds.
Leon Vaner of Lewistown was on hand to buy the furs.
