  Richard James “Jim” Dukart, 71, passed away Wednesday, October 23, 2013, at his home East of Fallon.

Jim was born on July 25, 1942 to Anton and Eva (Bullinger) Dukart in Killdeer, North Dakota at a homestead and was delivered by a mid-wife.  Jim visited the Fallon area during the summers working for his uncle Manual Dukart.  Jim and his family moved to Fallon in 1955 after his parents purchased Duke’s Tavern.  Jim attended schools in Fallon and Terry until his sophomore year.
Following school, Jim worked as a ranch-hand and joined the Army National Guard.  He attended boot camp at Fort Ord in California and was then stationed in Barstow, California.  Following his discharge in 1964, Jim returned to Fallon.
Jim married Darlene Diegel on June 10, 1964.  Jim and Darlene lived in Fallon where he worked as a lineman for the power company stringing power-lines.  They then moved to Great Falls where he worked a as ranch-hand near Geyser.  Jim then went to work for the Anaconda Company in Great Falls.
  Jim and Darlene returned to Fallon in the early 1970’s when they purchased the F & R Bar & Café.  When they sold the bar, he went to work for Standard Chemical and Norm Jimison drilling water wells until he purchased his own rig and started RJ Dukart Drilling.  Jim and Darlene divorced in 1984.
Jim married Sue Vowel in 1988.  Jim and Sue owned and operated the Lazy JD Bar & Café in Fallon for a number of years.  Jim and Sue later divorced. 
Along with occasional well drilling (keeping his license current and maintaining a membership with the Montana Water Well Drillers Association), he continued running his cattle, cutting and baling straw/hay and helping his brother, Bob, and anyone else who just needed a hand.  He also enjoyed watching boxing and discussing upcoming matches and critiquing those that he watched.
Jim is survived by his daughters, Dulcy (Kelly) Hubbert of Fallon and Deena (Skip) Verworn of East Helena.  He is survived by four grandchildren, Shawna (Nathan) Christofferson of Terry, Lyndsey (Casey) Harris of East Helena, Dale James “DJ” Hubbert of Fallon and Mykaylee Verworn of East Helena and one great-granddaughter, Kenadee Christofferson.  Jim is also survived by brothers, Bob Dukart of Fallon, Anton Jr (Charla) Dukart of Fallon, and Dan (Shirley) Dukart of Fallon, and by sisters Betsy (Gerald) Hoffer of Glendive and Irene (Merle) DeTienne of Fallon.
  Jim was predeceased by his parents and his sister Katherine.
Visitation was held on Friday, October 25, 2013 at Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home in Terry.  Funeral services were held on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home in Terry.  Interment followed at the Prairie County Cemetery with full military honors.  Condolences for the family may be left at www.stevensonandsons.com.  Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home in Miles City are in charge of arrangements.
