Community Center welcomes new director

Karen Rauch began her duties Sept. 26 as the director of the Prairie Community Center. She is responsible for preparing two weekly congregate meals, scheduling center activities and managing the center’s budgeting and says she’s looking forward to honing in on the skills needed for all aspects of the job.
“I’m learning how to feed 30 people when I’m only use to feeding two,” Rauch said smiling, referring to her meals at home with husband Bill, in comparison to the bi-weekly meals offered at the center.
The couple moved to Terry from Blaine, Wash., about five years ago. Bill works at the Terry Service Center and Get R Done.
Karen, who has worked at various businesses in the community, says her familiarity with most people in Terry will help in her new role. She says she’s also looking forward to welcoming more seniors to attending the center’s activities.
