Mary Larimore and Ann Johnson were honored last week for their years of service facilitating the needs of the community’s elderly. Johnson has served as the Prairie Community Center’s director for 11 years, while Larimore has worked in the county homemaker capacity since about 1990.
When Larimore first began she visited the homes of about a dozen people each week. That number has dropped to about half, she said.
“It was a good job,” Larimore said. “I met a lot of people, a lot of nice people.”
Johnson, who began working at the center under the helm of Esther Koegle, echoed similar sentiments.
Larimore noted she has worked with county health nurses Karen Hinnaland, Joan Hubber and Janet Fredrickson.
