A special meeting will be held in Glendive Friday, June 19 to discuss the growing problem of drug abuse in the Bakken oil region.
Senator Jon Tester will join with Senator Heidi Heitkamp of North Dakota and the Director of National Drug Control Policy R. Gil Kerlikowske to meet with local, state and national law enforcement officials to address efforts to reduce drug abuse and its consequences.
In the most recent National Survey of Drug Use and Health, Montana was one of the 10 worst states in several drug-use categories, including illegal drug use among young people.
The meeting will be held from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Glendive Medical Center at 202 Prospect Drive.

U.S. Attorney for Montana Mike Cotter; District II Alcohol and Drug Program Clinical Director Tim Anderson; Dawson County Sheriff Craig Anderson; Dawson County Attorney Olivia Norlin Rieger; Montana Narcotics Bureau Drug Task Force Officer Jeff Faycosh; District II Alcohol and Drug Program Prevention Services Director Ronda Welnel.
The meeting is free and open to the public.
