The Prairie County Extension Office has teamed with a committee of livestock producers and the Prairie County Grazing District to plan a range tour planned especially for Prairie County producers featuring Fort Keogh researchers on June 25th. This year the tour will take place at Fort Keogh, beginning with classroom sessions in the morning at the research station and conclude with a range tour at Fort Keogh in the afternoon.
Morning sessions will begin at 9:00 a.m. and address timing of grazing after fire, riparian grazing management, and heifer development strategies. Stockman Bank has been generous enough to sponsor a lunch on site for those who attend the day’s program. The afternoon will be spent in the field learning about a grazing-based heifer development study, stocking rates, and late season protein supplementation. The tour is expected to conclude around 3:30 p.m.
For more information on the tour, please contact the Sharla Sackman at 635-2121 or Sandra Brown at 635-5381.
