Testing of emergency sirens to take place

  The Alert and Warning Siren will be tested in Terry on Saturday, May 25th at 1:00 p.m.

The following is a description of the FEMA approved signaling tones that can be emitted from the siren located near the Post Office.  
If a long, steady wail is heard, residents are asked to stay or return indoors and listen to the television, radio or weather radio for further instructions.
These tones will run for a 3 minute cycle.
The Steady Wail is to be used by local government for peacetime emergencies. This can include any of the following:
1. Flood Warnings
2. Flash Flood Warnings
3. Tornado Warnings
4. Severe Thunderstorm Warning
5. Hazardous Materials release: Chlorine Gas Cloud, Anhydrous Ammonia Cloud, etc.
6. Any other major 
emergency that 
happens during
The Fast Wail is a fast wavering tone that may be used for local fire notification.
The Slow Wail is a slow wavering tone, which means that an actual attack against the United States has been detected.
