Marjorie E. Shipp, 79

  Marjorie E. Shipp, age 79, of Miles City passed away on Thursday, November 3, 2011 at the Friendship Villa Care Center in Miles City.

She was born Blanche Halvari on November 16, 1931 in Missoula, Montana and adopted by Harley and Lennice (Horton) Wright in December of 1931.  She attended school in Baker, Montana through the 6th grade then moved to Miles City for one year.  She then moved to Terry in 1945 and graduated from Terry High School in 1949.  She worked for the Mountain Bell Phone Company as a telephone operator from 1950 to 1956.  On April 28, 1956 she married Larry Shipp the Jeweler in Terry.  To this union, three children were born, two daughters Laurie and Marla and a son Gregory.  They moved to Miles City in August of 1969 and Marjorie did babysitting and later worked for St. Vincent de Paul as a volunteer and them manager from 1981 to 2003.  
Marjorie enjoyed spending time with her family, reading, crocheting and music.  She also enjoyed collecting cookie jars over the years.
Marjorie is survived by her husband of 55 years, Larry Shipp of Miles City, MT; two daughters: Laurie (Mike) Green of Lancaster, CA and Marla (Mark) Rasengren of Lyndonville, VT; a son, Gregory Shipp and his companion Kei Okushi of Danville, KY; seven grandchildren:  Shawn Green, Shereen Green, Jamie Joy Green, Kristen Rasengren, Branden Rasengren, Meagen Rasengren and Ryan Okushi.  She was preceeded in death by her father and mother.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, November 8, 2011 at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City.  Interment will follow in the Eastern Montana State Veteran’s Cemetery.
