1940 Terry graduate reminiscing - On her 93rd birthday, Noreen (Van Dusen) Frette of Miles City stopped by the Tribune office with her son Kent Frette from Owatonna, MN. “I wanted to see what it looked like inside,” said Noreen when she walked in the door. Noreen had worked in the building that now houses the Tribune office when it was the Wright, Nelson, Stith Co., formerly the Roylee Mercantile Co., which sold dry goods such as clothing and shoes as well as groceries. “This was before you shopped with a cart down the aisles of a grocery store,” says Noreen. “You told them what you wanted at the counter and they would go back and get what you needed.” Noreen worked at the store for 3 years for a wage of $40 a month. Noreen was the Terry Class of 1940 Salutatorian.
